1st Thursday Painters Session of 2010
Today … Jan/14th/10 … we began our regular weekly art sessions in Sackville. It was great to be back with these creative and enthusiastic artists again. The energy and innovative ideas seems to expand and multiply when we are together. It is such a joy to play and create as a group each week. I will post a few photos of our day together.
Here are a some of us arriving and getting settled in and ready to explore and create. Sometimes it is difficult to get everyone at their table … especially after holiday breaks … but I insist on beginning on time.

Today we reviewed our artistic goals for 2010. This is an especially exciting year … the 75th anniversary of SAS (Sackville Art Association) and the hard-working executive have several special events planned.
Today’s session plan was attempting to mix colours to match colour swatches from paint companies … not an easy exercise. I apologize for not getting more photos of the final results. I got so involved that I forgot about the camera. Here are some of the group hard at work. We have a lot of fun … but we do take our art seriously !

One of our members supplied a tin container full of colour chips … in every colour you could imagine. It was a delight to an artist’s eyes … and challenging !
A few of us were successful in time to start using some of the hues we had produced to begin a painting … like this example. What a nice beginning.

Here laying on top of my painting supplies is my exercise sheet. Aren’t the colours wonderful ? The swatches I was trying to match got moved in the excitement … but a few actually matched.

I’m ready to try some of these delightful hues in a painting. What a way to begin 2010 ! You are welcome to come by any Thursday afternoon and join us.

How wonderful to see photos of you and to hear about what you are doing. I have hooked up with some artists here in Campbell River BC and am playing with paint again. Happy New Year to everyone, Cathy Thurston
